Samuel Golubchuk is 84 and barely alive, by any definition. He should not be having another birthday before Manitoba's Court of Queen's Bench begins pondering whether he should be taken off life supports. Three doctors have refused to accept shifts at a Winnipeg hospital's critical-care unit because they object to having to treat a man they believe should not be kept minimally alive. If more doctors follow, Grace Hospital may be forced to close the unit.
