A week after Darcy Tucker's agent, Carlos Sosa, said his client would not waive his no-trade clause to be dealt by the Toronto Maple Leafs, the agent for Leafs defenceman Bryan McCabe has decided to copy the same game plan.
There were reports earlier this week that McCabe would be open to a trade to the New York Islanders. McCabe lives with his wife in the offseason on Long Island. He still has three years left on his six-year contract that pays him $5.75-million a season.
"We continue to hear that the Leafs want to trade Bryan McCabe,” agent Ian Pulver told sportsnet.ca. “Bryan has a no-move clause in his contract that was negotiated with and agreed to by the Leafs. Bryan is not inclined to waive the no-move clause.
"He enjoys living and playing in Toronto and the team is a first-class organization. Bryan has logged more minutes than any other Leafs player in the past seven years and given his heart and soul to this franchise. If the Leafs want to move forward without Bryan they should buy out the remaining years on his contract."

Tim Cares from Canada writes: Let him sit on the bench. I'm sure he'll like that. Then, plenty of laps at practice.

Any Body from Canada writes: Play him - if he contributes problem solved. If he stinks (again) then sit him. He can grieve all he wants. The Leafs will be able to claim he is not producing and it is a coaching decision. Sitting him right way might give the NHLPA something to sink their teeth into.
