RIM misses profit forecast

TORONTO — Research In Motion Ltd. has reported a first-quarter profit of $482.5-million (U.S.), up from a year ago as revenue more than doubled. However, shares in the BlackBerry maker fell 10 per cent in after-hours trading as the earnings fell short of market expectations. Shares in RIM, which released its results after the close of markets, ended the trading day up $2.07 (Canadian) at $143.85 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
