Let's hope Kostistyn (AK#46) doesn't use this deal as his negotiatio guideline.

The 2008-2009 salary cap will be $56.7 Miilion on the high end and the floor will be $40.7 Million

The Capitals are now at $43 Million with this signing.

If goalie Huet signs, they will be at $48-49 Million. They are also looking at Fedorov who wants 4 million while the team is looking at 2. If they saw off the difference, the Capitals will be at $50-51 Million. They still have 2-3 other 3rd-4th line guys to sign...

As for Green, the TOP goal scoring defenceman in the NHL and 7th in total points with a plus rating on a team that struggled defensively, someone would have made him some stupid offer like 10 years at $60-70 million (hello Kevin Lowe) . Looks like the GM made a good move. 4 years isn'yt forever.
