wayne powers from saskatoon, writes: The Edmonton management is the best in hockey, Kevin Lowe and crew make smart moves. They have a better young team than last year and last years team was very good. You can't control injuries, but what you do to work around them shows a very good management team. Good drafting and smart moves.

Edmonton management are good, but they are not the best...
The proof of the pudding is always in the eating, and that distinction belongs to Bowman, Holland, Babcock and the Detroit Red Wings currently...
Happy Canada Day, nevertheless...

tim smith from Canada writes: I have to agree with R Miller, if Edmonton management was that good they wouldn't have had to fling offer sheets around to save their hides. However, in my opinion these are both excellent trades, someone in Columbus is going to feel awfully stupid this time next year. Also, I think Lowe is moving all the right people out of his organization. I wish the Canucks could play in the East, all the smart GM's and great teams are out West.

Especially to you the other Bluenose Bookend.
Wayne Powers is correct, Edmonton is a surprisingly good team.
The Oilers are way, way, way below the Toronto radar on HNIC.
Yeah they didn't make the play-offs, but they had so many injuries
Not even the Wings would have made the play-offs with those injuries
Cole is the atypical Oiler rough tough exciting head first dive player.
He'll fit right in with that exciting Oiler wide open fast skating team.
But the real PRIZE here Miller, is that kid Brule. That boy can FLY!
Amazing Jr with the Giants, won it all, but so far a flop in the NHL.
If Brule returns to even half form, he'll be in the top 10 NHL scorers.
Tim Smith hit the nail when he said ". I wish the Canucks could play in the East, all the smart GM's and great teams are out West.
Tim, maybe the Canucks (and the Flames) will have to stop being so BORING now: Or else that the exciting Oilers will steal all their fans
Go Canucks Go--At least farther than Centre Ice and dump it in.- Posted 01/07/08 at 5:24 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Thanks for the laugh, Hap.
Brule in the top 10 NHL scorers?
He's a good player (as proven in junior) and he should have a steady NHL career as a 3rd liner, but don't kid yourself that he will be in the top 10 of scoring.
I like what Edmonton has done this off - season. Cole is a great addition. Don't think they should have got rid of Matt Greene, but, hey, whatever.- Posted 01/07/08 at 8:53 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Trent S from Canada writes: You don;t want you're team to be in the east with weaker players, whats the excitment there? Last year was perfect where the first and last teams in the NW division were both contenders to be first or last it was soo close
