Colombia's resurgence
The stunning rescue of the French-Colombian politician Ingrid Betancourt and other hostages held by Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) terrorists is further evidence that the Canadian government's faith in Colombian President Alvaro Uribe and our strengthening bilateral relationship is well-placed.
Ms. Betancourt, a former senator, anti-corruption and rights activist, and political opponent of Mr. Uribe, was kidnapped six years ago by FARC, a left-wing rebel group.
