Christopher LaHaise from Ottawa, Canada writes: The concept of abortion does bother me, but I do believe that a woman has the right to choose. This man stood up for women everywhere, and I think he deserves this reward. It is true, he faced what he thought was an unjust law, and his courage and determination saw that law changed. For this, he also deserves this reward.
Congratulations.- Posted 05/07/08 at 12:44 AM EST | Link to Comment

michelle martin from Hamilton, Canada writes: ' 'We were surrounded by enemies, by people who didn't share our point of view,' recalls Claude-Armand Sheppard, the doctor's defence lawyer at the time.'
So anyone who doesn't share your point of view is an enemy? Good grief.- Posted 05/07/08 at 12:57 AM EST | Link to Comment

Jeff Kelly from Kitchener, Canada writes: Michelle Martin - Perhaps you didn't hear... The man was assaulted, his clinic bombed, his life threatened countless times... The man was surrounded by ENEMIES. Crazy right wingers who think that tormenting this brave man was God's work. Perhaps you should re-examine your ridicule.

Kyle Wiebe from Canada writes: What is it that makes people justify the immorality of a persons life by the morality of the same? I guess thats most peoples theology and they're stickin to it. I have a question. I dont really know much about this guy. What are all these great things that he has done? Is it just that he is so progressive? Whats the fetish with being so progressive?
All that said, I think everyone deserves a little respect. 'Proud to be Canadian' at the top of this board calls christians 'the plague rats of canada' becuz there is plenty of us (christians) in the opposite radical ditch as him/her yelling out obscenities at him/her.
OOO... sounds like fun:(
What if, just by chance, there was a moral law of sustainability (call it natural balance), that prohibited abortion, homosexuality, divorce, promiscuity, enviromental abuse, over debt (and the consequence, bankruptcy), murder, etc etc etc
China has a future catastrophe on thier hands because of human intervention (abortion). Where are you gonna draw the line? Nature was made to self sustain. Sure, we may never see the consequences. Our kids and grandkids can deal with it, eh?
Im proud to be Canadian too!- Posted 05/07/08 at 1:23 AM EST | Link to Comment

Robin Hannah from Canada writes: Christopher LaHaise - thank you for your measured opinion, and your support for Dr. Morgentaler.
Abortion bothers women too. No woman or girl likes it. It's not fun, and it's not glib - no matter what Margaret Wente, in her usual contrarian, glib fashion, says it is - it's a deeply painful, very personal procedure.
But as long as females can get pregnant accidentally or otherwise, abortion is here to stay. I'm sorry, men, Get over it!- Posted 05/07/08 at 1:33 AM EST | Link to Comment
