Joshua er from Canada writes: Telus recently announced they're going to have the HTC touch Diamond on its network. . The Touch Diamond will be EVDO rev. A ready and with the touch flo 3d interface there is a viable alternative. The touch Diamond is one sweet device and would rival the iphone. I actually would get the HTC touch Pro when it comes out
Ill stick with my curve for now since I just upgraded to OS 4.5 and love html email, msn always on, and youtube (plus other streaming) videos etc...- Posted 04/07/08 at 8:52 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

G T from Toronto, Canada writes: Please, please Globe writers, start comparing apples to apples (insomuch as you can in tech).
If you're going to include the system access fee in the Bell pricing, do so for the Rogers plan too. $60 turns into almost $70 and even more than that if you start to look at things like voicemail, etc.- Posted 04/07/08 at 3:09 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Ziad Fazel from Calgary, Canada writes: I'll have to haul out a spreadsheet later this summer to decide whether to buy an iPhone:
- all the hidden charges and required features
- cost of adding iPhone to my existing grandfathered voice plan
- Rogers iPhone bundle v adding iPhone data
- whether I should dump my home phone
- whether I have enough minutes to be on cellular and Skype alone
- any lost discounts from having my home phone in a triple-play bundle
A few iterations of that and I'll be happy if I do not melt my CPU.- Posted 04/07/08 at 4:45 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Canadian Eh from Canada writes: Nah. I HATE Bell Mobility. I'll still go to the US and get the iPhone from AT&T.

h w from Waterlogged, Canada writes: Good luck with that Canadian. You won't be able to get the second version of the iPhone in the US without a contract. Apple won't make that mistake twice! You should however be able to get a good deal on the first version, which though obsolete, is perfectly workable. You'll need hack to break it out of jail (program and SIMlock), and you won't likely be able to use the data features at all, by putting your Rogers SIM card into it. I dislike Bell as well, even though they have superior coverage, but Rogers is even more disgusting than Bell! I think RIM's Bold will be eating Apple's lunch this year, due to Rogers' stupidity/greed. It's not always about having superior hardware... thanks Rogers!

Canadian Eh from Canada writes: hw from waterlogged, canada: Yup I'll sign up at AT&T for two years. Cheaper and more services and the cellnet covers the lower part of Canada. In fact the cellnet interferes with Rogers cellnet in southern Ontario. So I don't mind paying $60 a month for unlimited calling anywhere in the US, unlimited data plans. My husband will get one too when his plan expires and there will be unlimited calling between the two phones. All we do is pay the taxes to get the phone back into Canada. As for Rogers, if they decide to open up their data plans to a minimum of 6g, we'll consider getting a Canadian phone.
