John Clark from Edmonton, Canada writes: Alberta is prime for a melt down also! Many couples bought new, upscale homes while still paying mortgages on their current home of years. This left them in a two mortgage situation when the property values froze then, started downward trends.

Somewhat sad........but the same sort of thing is happening in the UK where 'REAL ESTATES' running to the 1000's of acres have seen major 'mark downs' too.
Canada may be a bit delayed in showing the symptoms but it appears AMERICANS are backing away from rather palatial 'SUMMER COTTAGES ' here in B.C. It can only be a matter of time before we seem the contagion affecting Vancouver's more affluent neighbourhoods............................
BUT ALL IN ALL CANADA NEEDS FAR MORE WEALTHY PEOPLE AND FAR FEWER POOR PEOPLE IF WE ARE TO PROGRESS.
The recent stats seem to show that Canada is falling behind in the STANDARD OF LIVING STAKES(to use Racing Parlance) that the developed countries of the world compete in.
