Corus says slowing economic growth hasn't hurt as quarterly profit rises 27 per cent

TORONTO — Specialty television and radio operator Corus Entertainment Inc. said Wednesday third-quarter net income rose 27 per cent and sales gained five per cent, bucking suggestions that advertising revenues were headed towards a major downturn. Earnings per share at the company, which owns channels such as Treehouse and Movie Central and animator Nelvana, rose to 45 cents from 34 cents in the quarter ended May 31. Net income was $37.
