TV networks losing ground to rival services

The big TV networks in Canada are losing their financial dominance amid the rapid growth of specialty channels and pay-television services. Once the chief money makers of the sector, conventional networks in Canada such as CBC, CTV and Global now account for less than 56 per cent of the revenue coming into the industry, according to new data published yesterday. Only a decade ago, the major broadcasters represented more than 79 per cent of all revenue.
