Flames to face Coyotes in Winnipeg

VANCOUVER — Two of Canada's six National Hockey League teams announced their 2008 pre-season schedules yesterday.

The Calgary Flames' slate includes an exhibition game at Winnipeg's MTS Centre against the Phoenix Coyotes on Sept. 24. The Coyotes moved to the Arizona desert from the Manitoba capital, and were re-named, following the 1996 NHL season.

The Vancouver Canucks also released their schedule, which consists of seven games, four of them at General Motors Place. The Canucks play home games against the Edmonton Oilers (Sept. 23), the Flames (Oct. 1), the San Jose Sharks (Oct. 2) and the Anaheim Ducks (Oct. 5). Vancouver also plays road games against the Oilers (Sept. 22), Sharks (Sept. 27) and Ducks (Sept. 28).

Calgary plays four home games at the Pengrowth Saddledome against the Florida Panthers (Sept. 23 and Sept. 26), the Coyotes (Sept. 25) and the Oilers (Oct. 3). The Flames' road contests are at Vancouver and Edmonton (Sept. 30).
