Manufacturing sales soar in May

OTTAWA Manufacturing sales soared 2.7 per cent in May from a month earlier – the largest increase in well over a year, and the fourth increase in five months.
The jump surpassed economists' expectations of a 0.5 per cent rise in shipments in May from a month earlier, following a robust 2.0 per cent in jump in April.
However, May sales still remained below last year's levels.
