  1. Ken DeLuca from Arnprior, Canada writes: The Quebec sovereigntists can celebrate in 2059 if they want to commemorate their bitterness. That's clearly how they see their national persona: Three hundred years of je me souviens! Get a life!
  2. F Johnson from Canada writes: I hope the Quebec sovereignists who objected to this concert feel as silly as they look. This is precisely why Quebec will unlikely ever be welcomed by the rest of Canada.
  3. G Montcler from Canada writes: Good Lord! The naysayers made amends two days ago so stop raising this issue.
  4. Frederic Brault from Montreal, Canada writes: I think the vast majority of Quebecers from all political allegiance are extremely honoured that Paul McCartney decided to come and celebrate Quebec City's 400th anniversary. Those "bitter" who had tried to make a controversy out of McCartney's visit are currently realizing they'd better keep it quiet.

Mr F Johnson, please welcome us in the rest of Canada, and we'll welcome you in the "rest" of Québec (I mean the Québec minus this little portion of idiots who just can't seem to move on).

Happy Birthday Québec, Happy Birthday Canada and thank you very much to Paul McCartney!
  5. Joan Forsey from Canada writes: Will CBC-TV cover the concert? Let's hope!
  6. Jim Goodwin from Canada writes: Mr. F Johnson unless you are from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, or Ontario, Quebec welcomed you, they are amongst the original 4. It is amazing how the extremists on both sides rise to the bait of an ignorant minority (whether it is some fool in Brockville stomping on a flag, or some self important artist in Quebec complaining about the concert lineup) However the mainstream will carry the day. For the man who is angry about Je Me Souviens, that is the motto for the famous Royal 22nd Regiment, which has served Canada well.
    Bonne Fete, Ville de Quebec.
  7. Brendan Caron from Canada writes: Hope everyone enjoys the concert.
  8. steve allan from Welland, Ontario, Canada writes: The organizers of this event should check into a mental institution for assessment. They're paying this has-been $4 million for this cheap two-hour gratification session.

The money could have been better spent. Just ask the people who paid big money a few years ago to bring those other British has-beens, the Rolling Stones, to Toronto.
  9. Toronto G from York, Canada writes: Can't we just have a party in this country?
  10. Yvonne Wackernagel from Woodville, Canada writes: Sometimes I feel ashamed to be a part of a country which has such braindead citizens, not only plain ungracious but completly ignorant.
  11. Puk Natcha from Canada writes: Hard to believe the kerfuffle over a smarmy, treacly has-been.
Couldn't they have brought Charlebois out of retirement?
  12. Stude Ham from Outremont, Canada writes:

what's the matter with all these people? don't they care one whit for the french language as much as some of the quebec french culture vultures do?

there must be a lesson somwehere in all of this.

    frere jacques... dormez vous?
  13. Tom Alderman from Vancouver, Canada writes: Quebec sovereigntists - never let go of your hatred and rage - nurture it like a flower in your garden.
  14. mr curmodgeon from Canada writes: "Anfield football ground witnessed one of the greatest nights in its history on 1 June 2008 - with a stunning concert by Sir Paul McCartney to celebrate the city's year as European Capital of Culture.

Brilliantly supported by The Kaiser Chiefs and The Zutons, the ex-Beatle - who last played in Liverpool exactly five years ago - gave a magical show with a blockbuster set of hits from his Fab Four, Wings and solo career that had the sold-out stadium on its feet for a full two hours."

Does this sound like a treacly has been ? The 200000 who have gathered tonight will I feel very confident in saying agree with the above review from just a few weeks ago. There is absolutely noone in the world whose very presence is more suited to this event - Liverpool - the Ukraine earlier this year - who else could bridge the world with more songs than we could ever begin to count. Purists eat your heart out - this man deserves every accolade he has ever received.
  15. Dr Demento from Canada writes: It's pretty clear that the vast majority of the citizens of Quebec city are ecstatic that McCartney will be performing in their city. It is a few ideologic seperatists that are the problem here . . .
  16. Nassar Ben Houdja from Canada writes: There's probably some Algerian group that could be brought over from France to do a sequel.
  17. Yves Champoux from Trois-Rivieres, Canada writes: To Tom Alderman: "Let go of your hatred and rage..." Good Lord, a handful
of people question the wisdom of celebrating 400 years of French presence
in North America by inviting a British artist, and the Canadian media have
a field day with the likes of you. Indeed, Let It Be!
  18. Keith shanahan from Calgary, Canada writes: Bonne fete, Quebec!
  19. Watcher of the skies from Montreal, Quebec, Canada writes: Four millions to play one night in quebec, don't scare me please!!! What is it qoing to cost to get Mats Sundin in Montreal???

This worry set apart, Mccartney is among the top bass players in pop misic, his style is very imaginative as he changes his lines often.

Has-beens don't continue to draw sell-out crowds to every performance they give. Lighten up!

First, in order to have a sell out crowd you have to actually sell tickets. This is a free concert. Second, you'd be surprised how many people are attracted by celebrity power. Just look how many dopes are drawn to see the Pope wherever he goes despite the fact they are diametrically opposed to everything he stands for. It's amazing how easy it is to attract the little people of this world with celebrity power!
