Councillors' limited access to database defended

Some Toronto councillors want complete access to the city's database to do their job, an argument tartly dismissed by the province's information and privacy commissioner.In a letter to Mayor David Miller and city manager Shirley Hoy, distributed yesterday to members of council, Ontario Privacy Commissioner Ann Cavoukian describes as "ludicrous" a legal opinion received by several councillors to bolster their claim for access.
