Wonderful, if you have a drug then you find someone to find a use for the drug. I guess the good doctor who did this 'research' has done just that!- Posted 23/07/08 at 10:00 AM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Fed Up from Halifax, Canada writes: How do you take something '2 hours before you have sex' if you have a lagging sex drive, which would mean you don't want sex anyway?
I was on anti-depressants over 10 years ago for a period of time, and sex was the furthest thing from my mind.
Do they mean inability to achieve orgasm? Because that's also a side effect for both men and women with certain anti-depressants.- Posted 23/07/08 at 10:34 AM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Leslie Symes from Canada writes: I'm skeptical b/c it's Pfizer, and they definitely have an agenda... BUT... I definitely think this is worth investigating further. I've gone off anti-depressants in the past for this very reason... life without orgasms is pretty much not worth living... :)

Marley B from Vancouver, Canada writes: I will be honest here. I do take ED meds and have for a couple of years. There is much made about how all they do is create the mechanism(s) to work. What many other men that take them will tell you though, is that the increased blood flow generates an amorous period. You are semi or slightly erect and this makes one, well horny. The improvement in erection capability increases self-confidence and in turn makes one ready to play.
I can only believe that the same thing will happen in women. The increased blood flow will enlarge the clitoris and does flush the skin - replicating what happens naturally in sexual stimulation. This is turn will increase the desire to or re-generate a desire to possibly have sex.
I have to say though that I am not a fan of Viagra particularly. It is quite harsh. I experience major face flushing, headaches, stuffy nose, ruby red lips and blood shot eyes. I take Levitra and in smaller does than recommended. It only takes a little of these powerful drugs. I still get a bit stuffed up but it only lasts a couple of hours and then the good effects last for days, allowing for spontaneity.
I am sharing this personal information because I don't think enough people talk about the realities of these drugs. No, men and women don't have to walk around with raging perpetual hard ons. However, the drugs do replicate the natural flushing, engorging of genitalia and put one in the "zone" It's like when your stomach is empty and you are hungry you tend to eat because you are in the mood to so.
I cannot stress enough though to speak with your doctor first. That the drugs are strong and not be used lightly. That we should all keep on top of research about long term use of these drugs and side effects. They have helped me tremendously but I also don't want to be dependent on them. They brought back some physical confidence I had lost and the rest: intimacy, sensuality and mutual respect are up to me. Good luck and good sex!- Posted 23/07/08 at 2:55 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

W.A. Darnell from Canada writes: Drug companies are focused on the wrong end of things. For most women, sex is all about her emotions; not the physical mechanics. Isn't that where the attention should be? Dr. George Dodd understood this basic principle when he developed the Scentuelle patch... a hi-tech aroma that works on the mood center of the brain using your sense of smell. Best of all, it has no side effects which is an added bonus. I'd rather my sensibility than more crazy drugs flowing through my body.

Proud Canadian from Canada writes: Paul I from Rochester NY, United States writes: """ This makes sense if the depressed woman gives the Viagra to her partner """.. Pope Paul, good afternoon, hope life's great for you. Now with your comment, maybe she should entertain a possible new or replacement partner at times? If "he" is over the hill, maybe its time "he" is replaced. Just like we do, we either can take "Ive got a headache" for the rest of our lives, or get a replacement for the tylenol. Which I did, (get the replacement) which I will thank the world forever. My new wife (2 yrs) is the best. By far the best.
