Globular Cluster, a Cdn from United States writes: The penalty for being convicted of financial crimes is harsh, in comparison with violent crimes. It gets even worse if the victims are companies, rather than individuals.

Nature Lover from Canada writes: Even tho these guys are in the process of being brought to justice, there is a NEW Paypal scam out there. Got it in my email last week. So not much progress being made on that front. Don't answer those emails requesting you to 'verify' information. Mine said there was a 'problem' with my account and it would be frozen if I didn' t reply. Yikes, these guys are slick.

The reality is that phishers prey on the stupid.
There is no shortage of stupid clods with an Internet connection.
People expect their computer and their Internet connection to do their banking for them, do their laundry and make them toast in the morning with no knowledge of computers or Internet.
Hard to feel sorry.- Posted 23/07/08 at 4:05 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

San Tomas from Canada writes: I agree with Mr. Oz. These termites should never be allowed to see the light of day ever again. Breaking up two tons of rocks a day with a ten pound sledge hammer would be a good start. Creeps!!

Hail to the Conservatives ! from London, Canada writes: I had a client about three weeks ago that almost inputted the information into one of those fake Paypal e-mails. She had me check it out while I was there installing a router, but had I not, she fully intended on providing user, pass, and sin. It just amazed me.

I don't think it is just sheer stupidity that people are dealing with here. When I got MY email lately it sounded pretty legit. After all when you go to the REAL Account, you are asked to input your user name and password.
I went to the real account by searching it and when I got to it I noticed the web address was identical to the phishing one, EXCEPT for . in the address. Easy thing to miss. But people should be advised not to go to links that come in emails to protect themselves. Doesn't mean they are stupid.- Posted 23/07/08 at 9:47 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Nassar Ben Houdja from Canada writes: Ban jails, they are merely educational institutions for the criminally inclined. Flogging is cheaper, immediate and very little information is passed on whilst the floggees are paying their debt to society.

Chris E. from Canada writes: Not all immigrants come here to do nice things.
Much of the reason we have a good quality of life is because a majority of our people consent to be governed and follow the laws. It's our dominant values.
If you took a critical mass of people from somewhere else and re-settled them here, the dominant values may no longer be 'consenting to be governed' and following the honour system as we now know it.
Values can change with population change.- Posted 24/07/08 at 12:26 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
