  1. Chris Jull from Toronto, Canada writes: Mr. Rubenstein rightly identifies The National as Canada's top golf course and it would certainly be an excellent test for PGA golfers. However, his article insinuates that the tour and the RCGA is being unreasonable for following the letter of the law in their regulations which prohibit discrimination on the basis of gender. Surely what is more unreasonable, if not indeed laughably antiquated and misogynistic, is The National's men-only membership policy. It seems to me utterly ridiculous that this is still a battle that women are fighting. Instead of implicitly hinting that the RCGA's anti-discrimination regulations are rules better observed by looking in the other direction, why does Mr. Rubenstein not use his column as a means of putting pressure on The National for changing their policy? Silence in this case indicates acquiesence with the policy, something I'm sure Mr. Rubenstein does not intend.

    Take care,
    Chris
  2. P McLean from Canada writes: Actually Chris, what is more dangerous is the erosion of freedom of association. It may not seem like a bad thing on the surface, but exactly how much do we want government to rule our lives? And if it's so important that no place be gender specific, then I look forward to you leading the charge in closing down the women's only gyms, and keeping everyone in one big happy family. Otherwise, please quit talking out of both sides of your mouth.
  3. P McLean from Canada writes: Forgot Ladies' Golf Club of Toronto as well. I have no problem with there being women only clubs......so as long as men can have them as well. But they can't have it both ways.

I've played the latter and not only is stunningly picturesque but it is also very difficult.
I have yet to play Eagles Nest (Maple, On) but I have heard that it is extremely challenging and also very scenic.

  6. dick brown from Canada writes: The National will allow women, when I can workout at Women's Only fitness clubs. Mysoginy?...shut up! It's their club, they can do what they want!
