Suncor's second-quarter profit rises to $829-million

CALGARY — Suncor Energy Inc. reports high oil prices helped push its second quarter earnings to $829-million, up from $738-million during the same time period last year. The energy company says its earnings amounted to 89 cents per common share, up nine cents from the second quarter of 2007. Cash flow from operations in Suncor's second quarter rose to $1.405-billion, up from $1.027-billion during the second quarter of last year.
