Iain's Opinion from Canada writes: In the early 1900's bankers were considered to be the scum of the earth. De-regulation of the Savings and Lioans industry caused a debacle. Deregulation of the mortgage lending sector caused a few problems. So why were the regulations enacted in the first place? Likely because the opinion of the populace in the early 1900's was correct.

Dr. Strangelove from Canada writes: jimmie rabbit from toronto, Canada writes: "he left to pursue other interests". Yeah, like counting his loot. All of these turkeys who were directly involved in promoting the financial shenanigans (ABCP, sub-prime mortgages) of the past few years should all be tried and jailed for fraud and be required to repay their ill-gotten perks, bonuses, and severance packages. Or, build a few guillotines and turn them over to the general public whose savings and retirement plans have been shattered. .
