A South African official says power-sharing talks between Zimbabwe's rival political parties are proceeding well.
But the official says violence continues and hundreds of opposition supporters remained jailed.
Both sides are under pressure.
The opposition fears more state-sponsored violence and long-time President Robert Mugabe faces widening western sanctions.
