Swimmer's body found, cliff jumper dead

The Canadian Press

BRACEBRIDGE, Ont. — Police have found the body of a 16-year-old teen who had been swimming with a group of friends in the Wilson Falls area of Bracebridge.

Divers and a helicopter combing the waters in the river's north branch found the body of Josue Perez this morning in the basin at Wilson Falls.

The teen was swimming with friends near a hydro generating station when he disappeared. A post mortem is expected today.

It is the second tragedy on the waters this weekend near Bracebridge in Ontario's cottage country.

The body of a 20-year-old man was found at the south branch of the Muskoka River. Police say Matthew Janssen of St. Anns, Ont., west of Niagara Falls, was jumping off a high cliff into the river and disappeared late Saturday afternoon.

The victim's body was found at the bottom of a gorge by rescuers, and a post-mortem is to be performed today.
