R. M. from Regina, Canada writes: Well the Riders won but that had to be one of the ugliest games in recent memory starting from the second play when the officials suddenly went brain dead. And what's with all these leg and ankle injuries to receivers. I think what is happening is that the tacklers are grabbing and then twisting and turning the leg/foot as they bring to the ground or when they get on the ground.
Anyway, Crandell was anemic; Burris was anemic; the Rider defense was generally excellent and the offence for the Riders, other than Cates, pathetic at times. The last sequence of plays the Riders called with less than a minute left were pathetic, almost as if they wanted Calgary to get another chance which of course they did and nearly pulled off!- Posted 03/08/08 at 12:10 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Marc Chasseur from Snowdon, QC, Canada writes: Full credit to the Riders for finding ways to win despite their injuries, but sooner or later these dodgy officials' calls are going to go AGAINST the Riders, in which case we'll see Sask. go on a six-game losing streak.

Stamps played lousy, but the Riders didn't play all that great either, so don't break out the champagne quite yet.- Posted 03/08/08 at 1:15 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

These were the prognosticaters that said that the Riders couldn't win a game without Kerry joseph and Fred Perry. Not to mention the scroll of injurys.

Can't do that against the hottest team in the league.- Posted 03/08/08 at 1:59 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Mike Chamberlain from Montreal, Canada writes: As a Riders' fan, I'm just holding my breath, waiting for the injuries to catch up and a few critical calls here and there to go against them.
Still, the team is so far answering the doubters, and they're full value for all the victories. The defense has been superb all season, and Wes Cates is so far the MVP of the league. Glad the bye week is coming soon.- Posted 03/08/08 at 10:35 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

wayne powers from saskatoon, writes: I'm not complaining, I think Burris was under pressure all night and without any running game Calgary did the best they could. I noticed the Riders have the least sacks, but it's the pressure on the QB that is just as important ,anyway I hate those stupid antics after a sack.
The Riders 2nd half was the best you could get from an offence, with only maybe 1 receiver. Palmer was a disappointment, he has been in the league long enough that he should have caught something.
Well the new kids will have to learn to suck it up.- Posted 03/08/08 at 12:15 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Chris Anthony from Regina, Canada writes: Rider players reflect what Sask folks are made up of...tough, hardy, true grit and know how to get get going when the going gets tough. The team this year is beyond comprehension, especially with all the injuries of key players. They are winners and fighters. I am looking forward to a 20 and 0 season this year which includes one playoff game and the Grey Cup.
For all you complainers out there Saskatchewan's greatest contribution to Canada is it's talented folks. Everywhere you go in Canada you will find someone who is from Saskatchewan at every level of government and private enterprise. We make Canada what it is and at every game you can see the proud Green and White fans....proud not only of the greatest team ever but also proud of their homeland.
The Riders are the best and so is Saskatchewan. Alberta may have more money but we have people who care about each other and not just their pocket book.
Saskatchewan and the Riders RULE!- Posted 03/08/08 at 5:06 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Paul Bayer from Calgary, Canada writes: Same old same old from Stamps . They are making other teams look good. Bonehead penalties at in-opportune times , bad play selection, bad passes , and bad dropped passes and no consistent pass rush.
One of these years they will get the right mix of players. They might want to stick Dickenson in for a couple of series. Riders D is as good as any in CFL.- Posted 03/08/08 at 7:20 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Steve Church from Canada writes: Two of the four games this week were excellent entertainment; this was one of 'em. From here it looked like Calgary had a really bad game-plan going in - and made all the right adjustments at half time. Another yard from either Reynolds or DeAngelis and the outcome is reversed, eh? Cates was the MVP and the diff. The officials had a green tilt on, but it wasn't that bad and the Stamps made it too easy for the refs to lean that way. As for the Armour toss, anything that blink n clumsy is a menace to navigation and should be thrown out of the province, imo.

Ziad Fazel from Calgary, Canada writes: Ugly frustrating game to watch.
Article did not mention the numerous dropped passes by Calgary receivers, including 3 in one drive to finally kill it. Copeland dropped too many - enough to wonder whether he will be benched next game - but he was not alone. The Green D is good, but not as good as to force the Calgary O into so many 2-and-outs.
Calgary took numerous dumb selfish penalties, behind and after the play, that should draw Hufnagel's ire for discipline. Howell had a good punt runback wiped out by a stupid block to the back, and the Stamps ended up in the shadow of their goalpost instead of mid-field.
We did not get any replays of the Armour hit that led to the game ejection, so the crowd was mainly in shocked disbelief for the first few minutes, followed by horror as the first quarter unfolded and we discovered only the visiting team had showed up. The movement of Lubinjo from rush end to middle linebacker may have been the reason for Calgary's inconsistent pass rush, but he did not look out of place in the middle.
Good second-half adjustment by the Stamps, but maybe next game they should have their locker room scolding BEFORE they take the field.- Posted 03/08/08 at 8:23 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
