And the winner is ... then again, maybe not

By any reasonable measure, Barack Obama should be streets ahead of John McCain. The number of people identifying themselves as Republicans is steadily declining while the ranks of Democrats swell. Republican congressional leaders openly acknowledge that they are in danger of a shellacking in the House and Senate this November. The reasons are many and obvious. George W. Bush is an extraordinarily unpopular President.
