Tories face jeers for jilting Commons hearing
OTTAWA A panel of 11 senior Conservatives skipped yesterday's hearing of the Commons ethics committee looking into a controversial election-finance scheme, with two failing to respond to a summons, and some others eluding bailiffs' efforts to serve them.
Opposition MPs say they will now consider calling for a separate inquiry into whether the Tories organized an effort to obstruct the committee's work.
