R Miller from Halifax, Canada writes: Ok, Ok... You don't have to answer that question...
I looked at the Stats and the number of Stanley Cups...
Congrats to Anderson...
But he's still no Wendel Clark.

max from edmonton from Canada writes: Glad to see the number 9 going up. With all the superstars playing for the Oilers at that time, Andy went largly unnoticed.
Seeing him fly down the wing without regard in any way for safety, plowing through people in a tangle of sticks and limbs, somehow hanging on to the puck long enough to stuff it past what ever poor guy was playing net....... those are my memories of Anderson.
Not to mention he leads the oilers all time in game winning goals. Glenn Anderson, THE all time clutch goal scorer.
No Wendel indeed, he is far and away a more accomplished hockey player.- Posted 14/08/08 at 12:56 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

I hated him when he was in Edmonton, but loved him when he was in Toronto.
But love him or hate him he was a beautiful hockey player.
Its an honour Anderson deserves.- Posted 15/08/08 at 12:21 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Montgomery C. Burns from Springfield, Canada writes: Why did it take the Oilers so long to retire his number and raise it to the rafters? It seems that this should have been done years ago.

harvey jingley from United States writes: Monty Burns,
It was probably Oiler squeamishness at Anderson's off ice behaviour that delayed this.
Now, I wanna see Esa Tikkanen's jersey go up and have him make a speech! Anderson was clutch but TIK was a maniac in the playoffs, lol.- Posted 15/08/08 at 11:13 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Terry F from Edmonton, Canada writes: Mr. Burns - The policy of the Oilers is that a player must be inducted into the Hall of Fame before his jersey can be raised. Even Kevin Lowe himself has to wait until he's inducted before his jersey goes up.

David Gehring from Kingston, Ontario, Canada writes: I'm on the fence on this one. Anderson certainly accomplished a lot during his career, 6 Cup rings, 1000 points, and in the top 5/6 in ALL-TIME playoff goals and points, but he did accomplish most of this by virtue of the crazy scoring that Gretzky, Messier, Kurri, Coffey et al. generated. A lot of other teams have much less talented players' numbers hanging from their rafters though, so I don't have a problem with this. Glenn Anderson is definitely a deserving Hall of Famer.
