Manitoba officers did not cover up for colleague, inquiry told

WINNIPEG — Lawyers for several Manitoba police officers fought back yesterday against accusations the officers had withheld or covered up information to help a colleague beat drunk-driving charges stemming from a fatal crash. "I do not stand before you to make excuses for what was undoubtedly a flawed and an imperfect investigation," lawyer Hymie Weinstein said in his final submissions to a public inquiry.
