Audio Q&A introduction

While most of us were sleeping early Sunday morning, Canada's heavyweight eight were busy putting to rest four years of heartache, winning gold this time around following the crew's capitulation in Athens.

Back then they finished fifth after being widely picked to win, so the team went back to the drawing board, positioning themselves as favourites once again for Beijing, and winning the world championship along the way.

Five members of this year's crew were holdovers from Athens, including Adam Kreek, joined us today over the telephone to take questions on the gold run.

Born in London, Ont., Kreek is competing in his second Olympics, and has been part of three world championship gold medal-winning eights, in 2002, 2003 and 2007.
