Origin rebuffs $12-billion BG takeover bid

PERTH/LONDON — — Australia's Origin Energy Ltd. said it had short-listed several potential partners to develop its gas assets as it seeks to fend off a $12-billion (U.S.) takeover bid from Britain's BG Group Plc. Origin argues teaming up with a major energy group to build a liquefied natural gas plant that would be fed by its large coal seam gas (CSG) beds may deliver better value for shareholders than BG's $15.50 (Australian)/share bid.
