Listeria – a nightmare in a processing plant

The latest listeria outbreak will fade, but one expert on food-borne pathogens says he hopes people will learn from it and take their own precautions against the potentially deadly bacteria. “What I worry about with these outbreaks is that people throw up their hands and say: ‘There is this big company that has contaminated our food and there is nothing that we can do,' ” Cornell University food science professor Martin Wiedmann said.
