2010 protests likely and 'fine,' VANOC chief says
BEIJING Protests are a way of life in Canada and there will be nothing at Vancouver's Winter Olympics in 2010 like the quashing of dissent by Chinese authorities during their Summer Games, VANOC chief John Furlong said here Friday.
“Protesting is common and embraced in our culture,” said Mr. Furlong, as he briefed reports on what Vancouver organizers have learned from the staging of Beijing's massive Summer Olympics.
