Soldiers die, but we just talk about the weather

From Saturday's Globe and Mail

Do we care any more that soldiers are losing their lives in Afghanistan?Once upon a time the loss of a Canadian soldier there was a national news event, accompanied by television footage of the soldier's coffin being unloaded from the holding bay of a military cargo plane. There were shots, too, of the hearse driving down a highway and under overpasses filled with Canadians showing their respects. No more. I began noticing this months ago.
