A legendary game fumbles the ball
It is supposed to be a football video game - the football video game, according to its fans: Madden NFL 09, the 20th-annual instalment no less, booting up on the eve of this week's National Football League kickoff.
It starts out, however, like a midnight movie on Space. The screen flickers and the beefy form of John Madden, the football coach turned commentator, appears edged in blue light.
