  1. D Mores from GTA, Canada writes: Way to go guys!

I love it - the picture of these successful guys looks like the stereotypical anti-establishment, down-to-earth geeky/nerdy programmers that made the phenomenal IT industry the juggernaut that it is today! I hope this signals a comeback of these guys and the economic benefits that they create!
  2. L Chang from Ontario, Canada writes: Well done and congratulations.
  3. North Star from Canada writes: Congratulations!
  4. Gnarly Kanuck from Canada writes: Who ever has invested in the Blackberry Partners Fund should be very concerned that they have not made an investment since it was established in May. There are tons of application developers out there that could build a portfolio of useful applications to compete with Apple or Google but my bet is, the wizards who run this fund are looking for a Grand Slam Homer rather than a series of base hits to win the game by creating value through the "Long Tail".
  5. bob london from Canada writes: Grandslam; welcome to Canada, the place they shoot their own in the back, and look for the big idea than the real idea. It would be awful if Canadians produced something useful again and we are only lucky that those companies that remain are still loyal to their home (not legisalted).

Congrat's to these young guys, hope you stay in Canada.
  6. Karunaratne Jeyatilleke from Canada writes: Good luck Boyz!

    Nice 1.
  9. Vijay Kumar from Canada writes: Well said, D Mores. Nerds have always ruled the world and will always will. The american continent has had a paradigm shift the people are no longer following the ideals that created the great brought countries like u.s.a and canada to the forefront of technological progress. Instead they are spending more and more time obsessing about singers and dancers and sportsmen. What they dont realize is you can't build and sustain and sustain a country on entertainment alone.
There can only be so many entertainers but there can be any number of intellactuals in science and applied science each specializing in their own field.
  10. lary waldman from Qualicum Beach, Canada writes: These kinds of enterprises should be high on Mr. Harpers Agenda when determining the path Canada will follow into the 21st Century. We have a fantastic atmosphere in Canada, if it weren't for the stingy Banks, a difficulty in attracting Capital Canada could be on the cutting edge . We should take advantage of a community where people work in stress free environments and are allowed the freedom to be their most creative. Now if we can extract and sell less, inovate and ad value before we export, we may have the greatest place on earth in which to live and create.

  12. Peter Mak from Toronto, Canada writes: 5 guys for six months of work.

That is 5000 man hours or $55/hr, assuming they worked
    8 hours a day.

Looking at the picture of these guys, somehow I feel that
they worked more than 40 hr weeks.

Price money should be at least $500K to be worth the effort.

    1. It's prize money... not payment for a job
    2. engineers are used to being underpaid. If you take the total number of hours worked, engineers probably make less than government administrative assistant
    3. It's their ticket to google or other great companies.
