B.C. premier vows to cut personal income taxes by 2009
VANCOUVER Premier Gordon Campbell promised new tax cuts yesterday and, nine months ahead of a provincial election, sought to quell controversies over pay increases for top bureaucrats and new attacks on B.C.'s carbon tax.
Mr. Campbell, touting income-tax reductions of 5 per cent on the first $70,000 of income by 2009, said his Liberal government may not be finished announcing new efforts to ease the tax burden on British Columbians.
