  1. pierre lefebvre from Brossard, Canada writes: Divide to conquer has been the Trudeauite policy carried on by Chretien and Dion. Canadians elected Liberal parliaments with this fear of Quebec independence. Now this model is dead mostly because a Tory government has seen the light. Dion is a fading force and acrimony will not help. Stephane claims being a Quebecois patriot but will not be elected in a francophone majority riding. As many of those post Adscam politicians his treachery will fail lamentably this time. No more Stornoway, Sussex and gone the LPC leadership will be Dion`s faith next October 14Th. Then Don Quixote will return to his green spaces fleeing parliament with his misfit dream. And faced with $800,000 personal debt and possible bankruptcy.

The founding rationale for the separatist movement is long gone. Let's recap: Francophones were an oppressed majority within their province half a century ago, under the joint thumb of the Francophone Catholic church and the Anglo elite. Trudeau claimed that this injustice could be fixed within the federation, Levesque claimed that only separation could ever resolve it.

Well, here we are nearly forty years later. It was a long and arduous journey, but the end result backs Mr. Trudeau. French has thrived within the Federation and Quebecers have equal access to services, jobs and economic opportunities.

It is ironic that the person who delivered Quebecers from their yoke (Trudeau) is considered a traitor, while the person who led them in a wild goose chase of separation (Levesque) is considered a patriot.

Of such myths history is made.
  3. C. O. from Toronto, Canada writes: Well I truely hope this is the begining of the end of the separatist threat.

Come on-we're so much better of together!
