All a vampire needs is a little love
According to Alan Ball, the man who wrote and directed the movie American Beauty and the classic HBO series Six Feet Under, he was simply early for a dental appointment. To kill time, he moseyed into a book store and picked up a novel by Charlaine Harris. On the cover he saw the tagline, "Maybe having a vampire for a boyfriend wasn't such a good idea." And he laughed out loud.
This is how Ball's latest HBO series was begat.
