Canada adds 15,000 jobs in August

OTTAWA — The U.S. unemployment rate has risen to match Canadian levels for the first time in more than 26 years, another sign that the U.S. housing collapse is having a far less severe effect in Canada than south of the border. The American unemployment rate rose sharply to 6.1 per cent in August – the same as Canada – after employers shed 84,000 jobs.
