TSX claws back some gains

Investors tried to make the most of a terrible week Friday afternoon, scooping up energy and mining stocks and just barely pushing the S&P/TSX to a positive close after three days of heavy losses.
“This was time to take positions in companies that you liked all along that are on sale now,” said Anthony Demarin, president of BCV Asset Management in Winnipeg. “You needed to be sharpening your pencil over the last 30 days looking for your buying prices.
