When he first arrived I wasn't too impressed with the zeb'ing of Proulx, but now he's arrived as a guy that really runs a no-nonsense game. I figured last week they were going to nurse a weekly honour up for Bishop - but this week he should get it on merit.

Honestly they trade away the mvp of the league, and then proceed to lose all of their starting receivers to injury, yet they still manage to get over 350 yards of passing from their quarterback. Gerran Walker and Vincent Marshall, both in their first ever cfl games only a few weeks after being signed, were very impressive in the 4th quarter.

    One thing the league might need to address is the 2 challenge rule. I mean shouldn't a team have the right to continue challenging until they lose a challenge? The riders got hosed out of what certainly appeared to be a touchdown as a result of not being allowed to challenge again. If the refs are screwing up the team should be allowed to challenge, cuz nobody likes lost points. Still the riders manned up and came back regardless of what happened on that disputed play. Congrats boys.

    C'mon... The Riders' record stands at 8-2... The Riders also overcame a 17 point disadvantage in the fourth quarter in this game...

    And all you seem to be able to write about is ONE single fumble call ?

    How about giving a little credit where credit is due ?

  9. Brett Maxwell from Canada writes: I did not watch this game and based on the result I am glad I didn't. It's time for the Bombers to rebuild and retool. Berry and his antics need to go. Rider's fans, don't get too excited about these two victories. They are against a bad, undisciplined team that lacks a winner as a QB. I'm a tried and true Bomber fan and this team is utterly embarrassing this year.

I would rather see more calls being made right though, it is just better for the game in general if calls are being made right. As long as teams are successful with their challenges I can't think of any good reason why they shouldn't be allowed to continue challenging if the refs continue to screw the calls up on the field.

    On the other side though, it is rare that teams ever get in a situation where they have two successful challenges and then get in a situation where they would have had a 3rd successful challenge. Most teams in the league waste their challenge on stupid plays that they have no chance of overruling.

    After watching both games yesterday perhaps the Argos kept the wrong guy?

Good for Bishop...he doesn't always look pretty doing it, but he wins. I'm glad to see him find a loving home in Riderville.

My only complaint is that referee, this is the same guy who gave McCullogh a penalty last year when an opposing player pulled Mike's helmet off and tossed it down field. He does not hide his dislike of the Riders very well. But Bishop has been everything I expected of him since the Argos signed KJ. Note I was the one who all along said Mike was coming to the Riders.

    Well the OFFS did have a bad day Chris.
    I think they blew 2 TD's in a row. First on the Gophers and then after the boobled Riders FG on that miscue, it looked to me that the Bloomers had one called back to the 1 yd line which appeared to be well across the G/L.--Didn't matter on the Winnipeg mistake they scored on the next play anyway.

    But still (all in all) that was one hell'va exciting ball game.
    That was perhaps the HARDEST hitting football game I have ever seen in many/many years.

A few things turn off the rest of us CFLers about the Argos including their signing of NFL deadbeats who never seem to fit in. Right now Pinball is losing respect by being on the sideline looking over the coach's shoulder as well as one owner Cynamon who always seems to be in the middle of the players. These guys belong in the stands or in the booth.

    I noticed you were all over the Patriot's blog. Sounds like another of your teams going down for the count, but at least Brady didn't flop, his injury was genuine.

    The Pats still have the best defense and coaching staff in the NFL...

    I would like nothing better than to see the Hamilton Ti-Cats get back to their winning ways, and if I could dream a little further, a viable franchise in Ottawa. Heck, maybe even some RIM money for a franchise in Kitchener/Waterloo.

    I think with a balanced league of 10 CFL teams, including 3 in Ontario, more people in Southern Ontario would get to enjoy the rivalries that we have in Alberta, or with the Banjo bowl. And see it is better to have a superior more exciting game, that you can also afford to take the family too, than to pine for some "world-class" status conferred by taking an NFL team that can't turn a profit in its own market.

Brett Maxwell from Canada writes: To respond to the comments directed at my sour grapes comment earlier in this thread: I'm not necessarily a Rider hater but my point on Rider's fans not getting too excited about these two wins over the Bombers is that until they met the Bombers the Rider's had lost two in a row and were in a mini-crisis mode despite starting 6-0. I like this team to be competitive the rest of the year but the competition is going to get much greater then my hapless Bombers. Bonne chance Riders!

    Perhaps I am deluding myself, but I think that I can still root for both les Canadiens and the Kid at the same time...

    I have only been cited in writing in the sports pages of the Montreal Gazette for chewing out an anti-Crosby columnist of theirs on one occasion so far...

    I still got a whole lot of that left in me.... :)

    BTW When Ontarians are having to hunt seals (or seagulls) to make ends meet, we will be happy to send some of our big $$$ out "West" to help you guys out.

    Sure, we will be happy for you to win the GC once every TWO DECADES... but stop with all the childish mellon head stuff.. Your GM traded away your only hope at a repeat... and now that the tough part of your season desends (not playing Wpg back to back) its over...

    Best you hope for the eastern crossover spot....
