Betrayal of trust, or a novel way to drum up publicity?

Vampire-fiction writer Stephenie Meyer just gets stranger and stranger. She's an oddball in the world of fiction to start with: For one thing, she's reasonably attractive, which is a highly unusual trait among writers. Next, she's a devout Mormon. Then she's a devout Mormon who writes about teen vampires, which probably raises a few Mormon eyebrows. In fact, she's the only multimillion-copy-selling Mormon teen-vampire writer I can name, off the top of my head.
