The culprit behind the winter blues

Canadian researchers have identified seasonal changes in the brain that may help explain why some people suffer from the winter blues.Using a high-tech imaging machine, the scientists discovered that, in winter months, people have elevated levels of a protein that clears serotonin from the brain. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter, or chemical messenger, instrumental in regulating mood, energy levels and appetite.
