  1. dave charlston from toronto, Canada writes: Gaston had some brain cramps in the second game. Pulling League and carlson way too early and treating downs (who is clearly not over his injury) like he was 100%. I think the second honeymoon with Gaston is over. And one more thing. Get rid of ryan in the off season. He's past his prime TJ surgery or not. And 89 MPH is not fooling anyone anymore.
  2. Popeye Dillon from North Vancouver, Canada writes: Dave: Cito is a players manager and can get them up for the game. Fact is Boston is a better team this year, and don't lose very often at home. The Jays have an upside to build on for next year.
  3. dave charlston from toronto, Canada writes: Yes but they have been saying this at the end of every year for a long time. It was, with the exception of this last win streak a terrible year at the plate that has to be addressed in the off season. And in turn they must examine the closer role and maybe share the role with league and Ryan or just trade Ryan. I truly think Ryan's best days as a closer are behind him. They still have lots of work to do and you can bet the Yankees will have a much better year next year than this one. So really this year was our golden opportunity and we came up short ............ again.
  4. Lorne Carmichael from Charlottetown, Canada writes:
One comment . It would be nice if Wells would ever show in those tough games , tough situations , or at the very least care if the Jays win or lose .
  5. Fred Draper from Kingston, Canada writes: I thought Downs had Ellsbury struck out, but he gets a second chance. Quick, how many screamed NOOOOO! when they saw Downs fall down on the squibbler.

So.. one run on a 30 footer and two runs on a wild pitch. Uggh.

At least that guy in Halifax has the decency not to rub our schnozzes in it. As the Beatles would say, how can you laugh when you know we're Down.
  6. P Martin from St. John's, Canada writes: That second game was sloppy by the Jays. Good teams may make those mistakes but great teams, especially those in contention, do not. IF they had won this game, and tomorrows games, there was still a possibility. This really closed any opening they might have had. Even if they win the next 4 games against Boston it would still be over.
  7. Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: Without looking ... I believe the magic number is now 9.

Not out of it but tomorrow is very important.... and we must cheer Tampa Monday thru Wednesday.

    Oh.... and we must win.

    Cheers
  8. Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: btw.... what might have happened without 2 base running mistakes in the first inning?

    Cheers
  9. Alan Hala from Jackson's Point, ON, Canada writes: Downs has been a fraud all season...don't look at his ERA, look at his inherited runner efficiency. BRUTAL!
  10. j k from Canada writes: Carlson was pulled WAY too soon. Downs is as useless as Ryan these days.
Wells is a no show when it really counts. Thank god for Inglett and Snider.
If Rios had half the drive and will to win that Pedroia does on a daily basis....
  11. brad maddigan from Canada writes: Downs has not been effective his last few outings. Can't find the strike zone, continually pitching from behind. He has not been very good for the last couple weeks. That being said, he has been their most consistent reliever for most of the season. Still, I would not have been using him in the past week and yesterday he was brutal.
  12. bernd staeben from Corner Brook, Canada writes: This game was a donation to the RED SOX on behalf of the JAYS,SLOPPY IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT---Cito needs to use the players that are performing at that moment--thinking back to the 90's--one of his faults was his loyalty to his playes at th cost of a game----yesterday was a must win-they had it in their hands and donated back to the SOX--MORE MENTAL TOUGHNESS A REQUIREMENT FOR NEXT SEASON.
  13. G L from Thunder Bay, Canada writes: Well the run is over. Not surprising. It was going to be very difficult to basically have to run the table for the rest of the season. to get a wildcard berth. The bullpen let them down in this game and frankly one can hardly fault a bullpen that has performed so well over the season. They had abad game and one might suggest, that had the offence been more productive after the second inning the outcome MAY have been different. Rios went 1-14 in the Boston series.Certainly not what one would call productive. from one of their franchise players. Mr Snider on the other hand has looked impressive in the games he has played in. If I were the manager I would play him more reguarly for the rest of the season and have Mr Tenace work on his facing left hand pitching,he's got to work on that, The BJ's are still very dangerous and again my advise to those teams that are contending for a divisional title who have games remaining on their schedule with the BJ's"You'd better bring your A game to the ballpark or you could be in trouble.Any team with Halliday and Burnett in their rotation is going to be tough. A great run One has to wonder what might have been if the BJ's had played like they have for the past 2-3 weeks.earlier this season.
  14. A Realist from Canada writes: Downs hasn't been right since he hurt his ankle, and Cito brings him in to arguably the biggest situation for the Jays this year? I thought Cito was supposed to be a genius?
  15. Proud Canadian from Canada, Canada writes: I watched both games, end to end yesterday. It was pouring rain here, nothing else on. Ok. Cito, ur a good man. U do a good job. But what made you make the decisions you did in game 2 is beyond me. Pitcher League, he was coasting a long, why pull him. If Downs was hurt, why put him in. Anyways, game is over, split the 2 game series, if Cito had been manager this year from day 1, maybe the standings would be different. The Jays have a good team, especially this Snyder kid, he's great, good pitching, good hitting, keep basically the same gang for next year, see where Cito can guide the ship. My idea anyway.
  16. Hap Stokes from Canada writes: OOoops
Since my Mariners won't be winning the World Series this year.
Switched to Plan C and almost started rooting for the Blow Jo*s.
Now back to the original spring training Plan B.
    Go Sox Go

Doesn't matter anyway unless the entire g/d LA Angels team all get 'Food Poisoning' two days before the Play-offs start.

Great run though Jays, you made a lot of new fans though (not me).
