Shot fells young cancer victim's beloved puppy

VICTORIA — Seymour the puppy bounded out of his yard on Saturday morning, yapping excitedly at a pair of strangers on the road. A moment later, the blast of a shotgun echoed across a rural neighbourhood on Quadra Island, silencing the four-month-old Jack Russell terrier. The sound of the shotgun brought Nick Rose, who had been stacking firewood in a carport with his 12-year-old son, Max, running toward the street.
