Cost of Afghan mission to be released in ‘weeks'
OTTAWA — It appears likely now that Canadians will get to read a Parliamentary watchdog's report on the cost of the Afghanistan war for taxpayers before they head to the polls Oct. 14.
It's potentially a damaging report for Conservative Leader Stephen Harper, who fought to extend Canada's military mission in Afghanistan to 2011 and under whose government the number of Canadian war dead has climbed to nearly 100.
