Native issues casualties of Afghan spending, chief says

Canada has spent $22-billion on a war in Afghanistan while neglecting its promise to eradicate poverty among native people, Assembly of First Nations national Chief Phil Fontaine said Thursday. Mr. Fontaine, wading into the federal election campaign, called on all political parties to build on the June 11 residential schools apology and work toward a reconciliation with native people.
