The Border overcooks its stew of paranoia, bombast and guns

Boom, boom, da-da-da, boom! Yes, The Border (CBC, 9 p.m.) is back, with all that thunderous boom-da-boom music to let us know that incredibly dramatic stuff is happening. The characters bark, mutter, stare and glare. Men in raincoats show up and talk like well-mannered thugs. That's how we know they're from the government. There's a lot of murky action going on in semi-darkness.
