U.K. bank turmoil threatens BCE deal

The British banking meltdown is threatening the planned $35-billion takeover of
BCE Inc. A crisis Tuesday at
Royal Bank of Scotland
, one of four lenders on the buyout, sent shares of Canada's largest company tumbling.
With its banks bogged down in loans gone bad, the British government is expected to announce a bailout Wednesday.
