1 A Surplus in the treasury instead of a deficit. The defense spending is a huge drain on the resources of a country, and really only benefits a few.
2 Cheap fuel. Commerce is the engine of an economy, and economical transportation is the lifeblood of commerce. Someone once said, "If you want to gather Honey, quit kicking the beehive".
