The novel Brisingr, by Christopher Paolini, sold 550,000 copies on its first day of sale and is at the time of this writing the No. 1 bestseller on Amazon.com. It is the third book in the Inheritance cycle, an epic fantasy involving dragons and magicians. Paolini's landscape owes much to Tolkien, whose work was in turn inspired by Norse sagas and mythology.
